Orphaned, abandoned, and neglected children receive the hope of a better life.

Ethiopia

For several decades the world has watched as heart-wrenching stories and pictures of malnourished children have come out of Ethiopia. The crisis has been exacerbated and complicated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the sex trafficking of young children. These have produced unbelievable numbers of street children and orphans, more than 60,000 in the capital alone, but the tide of change is beginning to move in

People on the Edge of Starvation Receive Help

Darfur and Southern Sudan

The needs in Sudan's western district of Darfur are staggering. Out of the 6 million people in the area, it is estimated that 2.5 million of them have been displaced and nearly 300,000 killed. Each week the number of those killed or displaced increases as more villages are attached by government or rebel forces, and survivors are driven away from their homes, and families. The UN and other agencies now indicate that 3.4 million people are dependent on food aid to survive, and, unbelievably, 40% of those can not be reached by aid agencies. Thus, many of those who do survive the attacks and are displaced, now face death by starvation.

The United Nations has called Sudan’s western region of Darfur, the “…world’s worst humanitarian disaster…”. Yet, at a time when the world should stand united in stopping the atrocities, the world seems uncommitted, or worse, unconcerned.

Afghanistan

After years of serving in several villages of Afghanistan, our commitment to the people has initiated a change in their image of us. In a land where the people of Western cultures, especially the United States, are greatly distrusted, there is a softening of that antagonism.
